Staff Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Provide advice and support for strategic deals and customer engagements.

• Collaborate with Solution Engineers and Observability Architects to tackle complex technical challenges.

• Act as a recognized Subject Matter Expert in a specific area of the Grafana Platform.

• Develop reference architectures and address competitive objections.

• Create and present compelling value-driven narratives to assist sales teams in closing deals.

• Take ownership of the creation and curation of technical training materials, including workshops, how-to guides, and demo scripts.

• Establish a consistent content review schedule in collaboration with Enablement and Product Management.

• Design, engineer, and maintain live production environments for demos, workshops, and proof-of-value infrastructures.

• Influence product direction and represent Field Engineering during product planning cycles.

• Speak at major marketing events, including presentations, panels, webinars, conferences, and blogs.

• Offer technical guidance and best practices to Solution Engineers, Observability Architects, and customers.

• Enhance product documentation and contribute to white papers, blogs, and product direction insights.

• Mentor Senior and Staff Solution Engineers as well as Field Engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8+ years of relevant technical experience, including at least 2+ years in a Senior Field Engineer position or equivalent.

• Comprehensive understanding of Grafana and its associated technologies.

• Recognized Subject Matter Expert expertise in at least one area of the Grafana Platform.

• Extensive working knowledge of multiple observability technologies, including Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, Elastic, Splunk, and Datadog.

• Expert-level knowledge in at least one related domain, such as IoT or AI/ML.

• Experience in creating and maintaining product training materials that are adopted by the wider technical field organization.

• Proven ability to collaborate with Product Management and Engineering on field-facing enablement content and roadmap priorities.

• Proficient in at least one modern programming language.

• Strong grasp of the modern software development lifecycle, along with debugging and investigation skills.

• Familiarity with Linux and commonly used tools.

• Practical experience using AI tools for code generation and review.

• Capability to architect modern applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.

• Understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, Serverless, and Microservices.

• Demonstrated success in delivering strategic technical content for technical audiences.

• In-depth understanding of the sales process and complex strategic sales cycles.
