Staff Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Provide advice and support for strategic deals and customer interactions.

• Work in collaboration with Solution Engineers and Observability Architects to tackle intricate technical challenges.

• Act as a recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) within a specific area of the Grafana Platform.

• Develop reference architectures and address competitive objections effectively.

• Create and deliver compelling value-based narratives to assist sales teams in closing deals.

• Generate and curate technical training materials, including workshops, guides, and demo scripts.

• Set up a content review schedule with Enablement and Product Management teams.

• Design, engineer, and manage live production environments for demonstrations, workshops, and proof of value (POV) infrastructure.

• Shape product direction and represent Field Engineering in product development planning.

• Present at key marketing events, webinars, conferences, panels, and contribute to blogs.

• Offer technical insights and share best practices with Solution Engineers, Observability Architects, and clients.

• Enhance product documentation and contribute to white papers, blogs, and product input.

• Mentor Senior and Staff Solution Engineers, along with Field Engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 8+ years of relevant technical experience, including a minimum of 2+ years in a Senior Field Engineer position or equivalent.

• Comprehensive understanding of Grafana and related technologies, with SME-level expertise in at least one area of the Grafana Platform.

• Extensive knowledge of observability technologies, including Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, Elastic, Splunk, and Datadog.

• Expert-level proficiency in at least one ancillary domain, such as IoT or AI/ML.

• Proven experience in developing and maintaining product training resources utilized by the wider technical field organization.

• Experience collaborating with Product Management and Engineering on enablement materials and roadmap priorities.

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language.

• Strong grasp of the modern software development lifecycle, including debugging and investigation techniques.

• Familiarity with Linux and commonly used tools.

• Hands-on experience with AI tools for code generation and review.

• Capability to architect modern applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools, such as Terraform.

• Understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, Serverless architectures, Microservices, and considerations regarding build-versus-buy decisions.

• Proven track record in delivering strategic technical content for technical audiences, including complex POVs and addressing competitive objections.

• In-depth comprehension of the sales process and intricate strategic sales cycles.
