Staff Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Provide advice and assistance on Grafana's most significant deals and customer interactions.

• Collaborate with Solution Engineers and Observability Architects to tackle intricate technical issues.

• Act as a recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one area of the Grafana Platform while maintaining extensive knowledge across various Grafana technologies.

• Develop reference architectures and address competitive challenges in the field.

• Create and present value-driven narratives to aid sales teams in closing deals.

• Produce and curate technical training materials, including workshops, how-to guides, and demo scripts.

• Set up a regular content review schedule with Enablement and Product Management teams.

• Design, implement, and sustain live production environments for demos, workshops, and proof of value (POV) infrastructure.

• Shape product direction and represent Field Engineering in product planning processes.

• Speak at key marketing events, webinars, conferences, panels, and through blogs.

• Offer technical insights and best practices to Solution Engineers, Observability Architects, and clients.

• Enhance product documentation and contribute to white papers, blogs, and input on product direction.

• Mentor Senior and Staff Solution Engineers as well as Field Engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 8+ years of relevant technical experience, including a minimum of 2+ years in a Senior Field Engineer position (or equivalent), functioning as an SRE, Developer, Architect, or successful presales Solution Architect.

• Strong comprehension of Grafana and related technologies, with expertise in at least one area of the Grafana Platform.

• Extensive knowledge of multiple observability technologies, including Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo, Elastic, Splunk, and Datadog.

• Expert-level understanding in at least one adjacent field, such as IoT or AI/ML.

• Proven experience in developing and managing product training materials utilized by the wider technical field organization.

• Background in collaborating across functions with Product Management and Engineering on enablement content and roadmap priorities.

• Proficient in at least one modern programming language.

• Solid grasp of the contemporary software development lifecycle, including debugging and investigation practices.

• Familiarity with Linux and commonly used tools.

• Hands-on experience using AI tools for code generation and review.

• Capability to design modern applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.

• Understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, Serverless, and Microservices.

• Documented success in delivering strategic technical content for technical audiences, including complex POVs and content that addresses competitive challenges.

• Comprehensive understanding of the sales process and complex strategic sales cycles.
