Staff Experience Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the evolution of the Airbnb platform from a design perspective.

• Ensure alignment with and enhance Airbnb's brand and product architecture.

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, Researchers, and Writers to identify problems and objectives, outline user flows, prototype interactions, and launch products and services.

• Provide a clear perspective to influence leadership decision-making and independently tackle highly complex challenges.

• Offer indirect leadership and mentorship to designers through comprehensive interaction and visual design.

• Anticipate business challenges and proactively develop product solutions.

• Indirectly guide multidisciplinary teams as the unofficial creative director for innovative projects.

• Establish relationships with leaders both within and outside of core product teams.

• Comprehend technological, business, and user opportunities and limitations.

• Define project scopes with Product Managers and engineers, aiding in the establishment of design processes and timelines.

• Shape Airbnb's international strategy and modify global products to meet regional demands across EMEA, Latin America, and APAC.

• Model AI-driven working methodologies and provide senior design leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or a comparable combination of education and progressive experience.

• Over 10 years of experience as a designer or design leader.

• Exceptional visual and interaction skills along with craftsmanship.

• Capability to define design direction and processes while guiding others through them.

• Proficiency in accurately estimating personal and team workload.

• Ability to inspire and lead small to medium-sized teams.

• Proven track record of helping teams navigate uncertainty, establish vision, and determine strategy for global products.

• Systems thinking capability, including designing for offline experiences.

• Experience in simplifying complex information, tools, and services into easily digestible formats.

• Strong storytelling, presentation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Experience in designing platforms and systems.

• Experience in managing and collaborating with research and writing teams.

• Experience in 0-to-1 projects or in redesigning significant elements of product, experience, or service design.

• Must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
