Senior Staff Experience Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with writers, researchers, product experts, and engineers to create aesthetically pleasing, user-friendly, and future-oriented products.

• Contribute to the design-driven evolution of the Airbnb platform.

• Maintain consistency with and enhance brand and product architecture.

• Work alongside Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, Researchers, and Writers to identify problems and objectives, map user journeys, prototype interactions, and launch products and services.

• Influence leadership decisions through a well-defined perspective.

• Independently define and tackle highly complex challenges.

• Offer indirect leadership and mentorship to designers through comprehensive interaction and visual design processes.

• Anticipate business obstacles and autonomously devise product solutions.

• Serve as the de facto creative director of innovative projects, indirectly leading multidisciplinary teams.

• Cultivate relationships with leaders both within and beyond core product teams.

• Comprehend technological, business, and user opportunities and constraints.

• Define project scope in collaboration with PMs and engineers, assisting in the establishment of design processes and timelines.

• Shape Airbnb's presence across EMEA, Latin America, and APAC by tailoring global products to meet regional demands and integrating market insights into product strategy.

• Define and execute an international roadmap that encompasses tactical UI enhancements and strategic initiatives.

• Exemplify AI-enabled methodologies and provide senior design leadership.

• Report to a Manager or Director of Experience Design as an individual contributor.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and progressive experience.

• Over 12 years of experience as a designer or design leader.

• Outstanding visual and interaction skills along with craftsmanship.

• Proven ability to define design direction and processes while guiding others through them.

• Competence in accurately assessing personal and team workload.

• Ability to inspire and lead small to medium-sized teams.

• Demonstrated capability to navigate ambiguity, establish vision, and formulate strategy for global products.

• Systems-thinking skills that extend beyond digital interfaces to include offline experiences.

• Experience in simplifying complex information, tools, and services for better understanding.

• Strong skills in storytelling, presentation, communication, and stakeholder management.

• Background in designing platforms and systems.

• Experience in managing and collaborating with research and writing teams.

• Experience in the 0-to-1 phase or redesigning significant elements of product, experience, or service design.
