Staff Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Architect and optimize scalable services.

• Design, construct, and enhance microservices to ensure long-term scalability.

• Lead cross-platform integrations within the EverPro ecosystem to facilitate a seamless invoicing experience.

• Enhance the performance and reliability of core services through code refactoring, improvements, or necessary re-architecture.

• Implement principles of distributed systems, including traceability, logging, security, and distributed design patterns, to boost system observability and resilience.

• Guarantee high availability and fault tolerance of backend services utilizing cloud-based architecture and industry best practices.

• Experience in optimizing NoSQL/document databases (MongoDB) to enhance query performance and maintain data integrity at scale.

• Lead initiatives to scale data storage solutions while balancing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

• Serve as a technical leader and mentor, establishing best practices and promoting engineering excellence.

• Introduce and advocate for modern development patterns, improving code quality, security, and maintainability.

• Collaborate closely with product and engineering leadership to align technical solutions with business objectives.

• Influence technical strategy and shape development by participating early in product and architectural discussions.

• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, navigating ambiguity with a data-driven and proactive approach.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional experience in delivering high-quality, scalable software solutions as a software engineer.

• 1-2 years of experience in a Staff Engineer role or a similar position.

• More than 6 years of hands-on experience developing scalable microservices using Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript; proficient in UI frameworks such as React.js and Tailwind CSS.

• Familiarity with creating APIs utilized by mobile and web applications.

• Extensive knowledge in database modeling and caching technologies, encompassing both relational and document stores (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.).

• Proven ability to design and implement high-performance, scalable RESTful APIs that support critical functionalities of mobile applications while applying distributed system principles for reliability, security, and efficiency at scale.

• Skilled in quickly evaluating existing architectures and driving optimizations that enhance both technical performance and business KPIs.

• Exceptional communication, documentation, and presentation skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

• Enthusiastic about maintaining code quality through automated testing, CI/CD processes, and thorough code reviews.
