Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain backend services and API integrations in Go that connect the platform to external billing systems.

• Spearhead the design and implementation of usage-based billing features, which encompass usage aggregation, estimates, alerts, and invoicing.

• Take ownership of intricate components from technical design to production.

• Influence component architecture by evaluating trade-offs and balancing immediate delivery with long-term reliability.

• Diagnose complex issues across distributed services and external APIs, resolving root causes.

• Recognize and implement enhancements in reliability, security, observability, and processes.

• Contribute to anti-abuse strategies and enforce security best practices concerning sensitive customer and payment data.

• Assist engineers through code reviews, pairing, and mentoring.

• Collaborate with Finance, Product, Support, and engineering teams across various time zones.

• Communicate asynchronously within a globally distributed team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive professional backend development experience in Go, specializing in building services within distributed systems.

• Proven experience in designing backend systems and making architectural decisions that have succeeded in production environments.

• Strong proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL/MariaDB, including data modeling, migrations, and performance optimization.

• Demonstrated ability to integrate third-party APIs while considering rate limits, uptime constraints, idempotency, retries, and consistency factors.

• Experience in areas where accuracy is critical, such as billing or payments.

• Dedication to testing failure scenarios.

• Solid grasp of common vulnerabilities and security issues within payment and billing systems.

• Experience mentoring engineers or guiding technical efforts while remaining hands-on.

• Interest in engaging with billing and financial systems.

• Strong written communication skills and the capability to foster agreement within a distributed team.

• Legally authorized to work in Canada, France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, or the United States.

• Background check required.
