Staff C++ Engineer – Windows, Endpoint Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.

📋 Description

• Create and implement advanced security functionalities for SentinelOne’s Windows endpoint protection platform.

• Operate within both user-mode and kernel-mode environments.

• Develop and enhance anti-tampering mechanisms, network sensors, agent infrastructure, device control, installers, logging, communication services, and user interfaces.

• Investigate Windows internals and troubleshoot complex system problems.

• Design and code primarily using modern C++23, while testing and resolving real-world issues.

• Conceptualize and implement significant new features, as well as rewrite or rework existing functionalities.

• Tackle large-scale performance and optimization challenges.

• Collaborate with distributed engineering teams throughout the entire development process.

• Share insights and knowledge within the Platform teams and the wider Windows group.

• Safeguard millions of Windows devices for enterprise and government clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of experience as a software engineer specializing in low-level programming with modern C++ or C, along with a willingness to learn modern C++.

• Practical experience and a comprehensive understanding of Windows OS architecture and internals.

• Experience in low-level Windows development.

• Proficient in debugging Windows applications and familiar with standard debugging and profiling tools.

• Prior experience working on a production-grade product that has seen wide-scale deployment.

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues across different time zones.

• Strong problem-solving skills and innovative thinking.

• Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to high coding standards.

• Candidates based in Italy must already possess eligibility to work in the EU at the time of application.

• Experience with Windows Kernel and Windows Drivers development, security-centric development, reverse engineering, or malware analysis is advantageous.
