Staff Accountant – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Execute revenue recognition tasks during the month-end close process, including the examination of customer contracts, order documents, service periods, amendments, variance analysis, and related data.

• Maintain accounting records related to revenue within Sage Intacct’s Contracts module.

• Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, account analyses, and supporting schedules.

• Review monthly commission files, verify calculations and accounting treatments, and manage accruals, true-ups, and associated entries.

• Investigate variances, research discrepancies, and resolve issues in collaboration with stakeholders.

• Utilize Salesforce to review contract opportunities, customer information, and revenue-related data.

• Implement US GAAP and Seeq accounting policies while escalating any unusual or complex transactions.

• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, ensuring a streamlined close calendar.

• Prepare audit-ready workpapers and address requests from internal and external auditors.

• Collaborate with Revenue Operations to assess transaction data and consider accounting implications.

• Coordinate with Accounts Payable/Receivable, HR, and cross-functional teams to gather accurate information.

• Participate in special projects and various accounting initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience with Sage Intacct and its Contracts module is highly preferred.

• Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, encompassing revenue accounting, commissions, and month-end closing.

• Proficient understanding of US GAAP and revenue recognition principles, particularly ASC 606.

• Demonstrated experience in preparing journal entries, reconciliations, account analyses, and audit support schedules.

• Familiarity with reviewing SaaS contracts, order forms, amendments, service periods, or similar commercial documents.

• Experience with Salesforce or an alternative CRM to support accounting or revenue functions is preferred.

• Proficient Excel skills, including the capability to analyze large datasets and create reliable supporting schedules.

• Exceptional attention to detail along with disciplined documentation and control execution.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to articulate accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders.

• Ability to work autonomously, manage competing deadlines, and collaborate effectively in a remote setting.
