Staff Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Process, code, and schedule vendor invoices for the entire supplier base.

• Perform 3-way matching (PO, receiving report, invoice) for every inbound shipment.

• Manage payment cycles, monitor terms, and capture early-payment discounts.

• Address discrepancies directly with vendors.

• Reconcile invoiced quantities with the actual goods received.

• Identify short shipments, production variances, and pricing discrepancies.

• Collaborate with fulfillment leadership to ensure accurate receiving documentation.

• Maintain weighted average cost accuracy across approximately 1,300 SKUs.

• Reconcile landed costs, including freight, duties, and inbound charges, to reflect true unit economics.

• Assist in monthly COGS true-ups and inventory valuation assessments.

• Oversee vendor account reconciliations, statement reviews, and compliance with terms.

• Monitor vendor performance, including variance rates, pricing shifts, and chargeback recovery.

• Track blended and category-level gross margins.

• Analyze SKU contributions, velocity, and markdown exposure.

• Generate vendor scorecards focusing on cost, accuracy, and reliability.

• Conduct ad hoc deep dives for ownership, including spending reviews and pricing scenarios.

• Work closely with ownership; while ownership manages month-end close and strategic decisions, this role handles daily accounting operations and provides actionable analysis.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3 to 6 years of experience in accounting or a combination of accounting and FP&A, with practical exposure to inventory, AP, or cost accounting.

• Experience in Apparel, CPG, or DTC eCommerce is highly preferred.

• Proficient in 3-way matching and comfortable challenging vendors when discrepancies arise.

• Advanced Excel skills: proficient in pivots, lookups, and creating models from scratch.

• Possess a mindset focused on unit economics rather than solely on journal entries.

• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar.

• Familiarity with the Shopify ecosystem is an advantage.

• Self-motivated and quick to adapt.
