This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and adjustments for monthly, quarterly, and annual closes in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities and international subsidiaries, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including vendor payments, donor invoicing, cash applications, and follow-up on collections.
• Record and reconcile activities of international subsidiaries, encompassing multi-currency transactions and intercompany balances.
• Document inventory and manufacturing transactions, and maintain fixed asset schedules along with depreciation records.
• Create schedules, conduct account analyses, and compile supporting documentation for year-end audits, tax filings, and management reporting.
• Identify potential issues and suggest enhancements to accounting processes and internal controls while documenting procedures.
• Provide support for GivePower finance operations in Colombia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Haiti.
• Report directly to the Controller.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is mandatory; CPA candidate status is a plus.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience is preferred, particularly in public accounting, nonprofit organizations, manufacturing, or international environments.
• A robust technical accounting foundation, demonstrating a solid working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and double-entry accounting principles.
• A clear understanding of the interactions between the balance sheet and income statement, along with the flow of individual transactions through financial statements.
• Practical experience in month-end close processes, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Sound judgment with a readiness to ask questions and escalate issues when necessary.
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote setting and collaborating across various time zones.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with global teams, vendors, and donors.
