
Specialist, Loss Mitigation FHA Claims

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare and submit FHA/HUD home retention claims in accordance with investor, insurer, and CMS guidelines.
• Follow up semi-daily on pending claim proceeds.
• Reconcile final claim proceeds with claimed amounts, paid sums, and outstanding loan debts, including escrow and corporate advances.
• Rectify erroneous files by canceling claims and/or processing HUD refund requests.
• Provide posting instructions for claim proceeds within 24 hours of receiving them.
• Review, monitor, and ensure the timely completion of scheduled steps.
• Update completion dates as actions take place and adjust future dates with approval when necessary.
• Conduct daily follow-ups as part of routine operations.
• Notify the Supervisor of trends and issues, such as claim denials, curtailments, and delays in processing.
• Document servicing, actions taken, delays, follow-ups, and phone conversations within system notes.
• Ensure timely imaging of claim documents.
• Maintain and oversee the HUD audit file.
• Perform additional assigned tasks as needed.
• Knowledge of the loss mitigation and claims processes.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels both internally and externally.
• Strong attention to detail and adept problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities with an emphasis on teamwork and quality in loan evaluation.
• Capacity to manage multiple tasks under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to comprehend opposing perspectives on complex issues and negotiate as well as integrate different viewpoints.
• Capability to make decisions that have a moderate impact on the immediate work unit.
• Ability to organize and prioritize personal work schedule in the short term.
• Proficient in basic arithmetic and able to accurately record, balance, and verify results.
• Ability to draft detailed reports, work-related manuals, and limited-scope publications.
• Capability to meet strict deadlines.
• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience; some college education preferred.
• One to two years of experience in mortgage servicing default preferred.
• Previous experience with FHA claims preferred.
