Special Operations Psychiatric/Mental Health Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Support the management and treatment of outpatient behavioral health activities within the POTFF program.

• Conduct intake assessments and assist in the care and treatment of psychiatric, drug, and alcohol patients.

• Provide counseling to clients/patients facing personal, behavioral, or psychological issues under the supervision of a provider.

• Monitor patients, identify behavior patterns, and communicate observations to licensed behavioral health staff.

• Facilitate individual or group therapy sessions as directed by a licensed mental health professional.

• Carry out initial intake interviews and complete necessary new patient documentation.

• Administer psychological and psychophysiological tests and assessments under the guidance of an appropriate professional.

• Maintain and update computerized databases for unit and service member training statistics on a monthly basis.

• Prepare correspondence, training schedules, meeting agendas, purchase orders, and clinical appointments.

• Keep attendance records and monthly statistical data related to behavioral health services.

• Assist in developing program operating instructions, identify inefficiencies, and suggest corrective measures.

• Review office timesheets and ensure operations align with budget management.

• Create and implement appointment templates for clinical providers.

• Submit physical maintenance work orders and manage property hand receipts and inventory.

• Maintain supply stock levels and reorder necessary behavioral health forms and assessments.

• Collect, analyze, and present data for process improvement initiatives, longitudinal tracking, hospitalizations, and discharges.

• Respond to appointment inquiries both via phone and in person.

• Collaborate with Command family support organizations.

• Organize and maintain competency folders in compliance with program policy.

• Coordinate attendance, agendas, meeting venues, and agency participation for the Case Review Committee.

• Prepare reports for open and closed cases for the special handling of outpatient medical records.

• Maintain a professional resource library.

• Provide families with information regarding healthy family life and parenting skills.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess, or be eligible to obtain, a Secret Clearance.

• Associate degree or equivalent training, such as military mental health technician training.

• Education qualifications may be satisfied through military or comparable training.

• Candidates trained in the military must have specialized training as a mental health technician/specialist.

• Minimum of 3 years experience as a psychiatric technician is required.

• Must complete training for psychiatric technicians covering psychology, social work, conflict management, crisis de-escalation, and the management of agitated, violent, potentially violent, or suicidal individuals.

• Must attend training on verbal and physical intervention, including restraint techniques for violent, potentially violent, or suicidal patients.

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.

• Must provide proof of all training, certifications, and documentation, including front and back copies.
