This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Deliver designated course material in a virtual setting.
• Provide instruction, assistance, and guidance while overseeing the educational process.
• Focus on the individual requirements of students as outlined in each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
• Ensure that special education and associated services are delivered as determined by the IEP team.
• Communicate with parents and related service personnel regarding suitable therapies.
• Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary state-specific special education documentation.
• Facilitate and conduct collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP reviews.
• Utilize resources to offer accommodations and modifications, which may include assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text.
• Adjust Stride K12 lessons and assessments to meet IEP specifications.
• Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education environment.
• Collect data and work samples to track progress towards IEP goals and objectives.
• Document communication with parents and interventions provided to students.
• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies.
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities.
• Maintain a grade book and uphold academic integrity; make decisions regarding placement and promotion; inform administrators of performance issues.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.
• Build positive relationships with families and communicate promptly with students and learning coaches/parents.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues.
• Travel for in-person professional development, student assessments, and/or as required by the school.
• Texas Special Education Certification.
• Residency in Texas.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Active State Special Education teaching license.
• Ability to pass the required background check.
• Ability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week.
• Capability to maintain a distraction-free professional home office during work hours.
• Availability to work in Central Time, typically from 8 AM to 5 PM.
• Ability to collaborate with other teachers to interpret and produce numerical, tabular, and graphic representations of student data and utilize it for instructional decisions.
• Open to receiving regular coaching from administrators.
• Willingness to embrace change and adapt to ensure outstanding student outcomes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
• Experience working with the target age group (preferred).
• Experience assisting adults and children in using technology (preferred).
• Experience teaching in an online setting or in a traditional classroom (preferred).
• Familiarity with an online learning platform (preferred).
