Sonic Audit Specialist – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate Multilingual Transcription data by listening to audio recordings and determining whether the transcriptions accurately reflect the spoken content.

• Utilize fixed error codes, assign pass/fail outcomes, and provide a brief justification for each decision.

• Assess Forced Alignment data by checking the accuracy of word-level segment timestamps and reference transcriptions.

• Rectify incorrect boundaries, either splitting or merging segments, adding missing segments, and eliminating segments that contain no words.

• Assign every relevant error code and clarify in straightforward language the reasons behind a task's pass or fail status.

• Highlight critical errors first to ensure that failure reasons are easily understood.

• Complete calibration prior to commencing production work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese as spoken in Japan.

• Must have been born and raised in an area where Japanese and this specific variety is prevalent, or be fully fluent with at least five years of residency in such a location.

• Strong proficiency in reading and writing English.

• Ability to comprehend a detailed rulebook and provide clear feedback in English.

• Disciplined application of rubrics.

• Excellent listening skills, including the capability to distinguish similar sounds and word boundaries in continuous speech.

• Previous experience in transcription, subtitling, localization, linguistic annotation, or quality assurance is highly advantageous.

• Experience in AI data annotation, model evaluation work, phonetics or linguistics background, and familiarity with audio editing or waveform tools is beneficial but not mandatory.

• A short calibration phase must be completed before starting production work.

• Engagement as an independent contractor.

• H1-B and STEM OPT candidates are not eligible for this position.
