Solutions Architect, Observe

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in technical discovery for SA-attached projects alongside Implementation Engineers.

• Evaluate telemetry, infrastructure, data volumes, tooling, and operational needs.

• Design comprehensive observability architectures that encompass ingestion, pipeline topology, data modeling, enrichment, normalization, alerting, and retention.

• Establish implementation strategies and architecture blueprints for the Implementation Engineering teams.

• Verify configurations, pipelines, and data models against production-scale requirements.

• Provide guidance to customers on strategies for adopting OpenTelemetry.

• Lead the architecture and planning phases from project kickoff to handoff to dedicated Implementation Engineer teams.

• Create reference architectures, design decision records, implementation plans, and standards for configurations.

• Assist Implementation teams with architectural challenges, scope alterations, and architecture-related decisions.

• Conduct architecture reviews prior to go-live to ensure production readiness.

• Design target architectures and phased cutover strategies for migrations from existing observability solutions.

• Identify architectural deficiencies, data quality risks, and technical debt, and develop scalable replacements.

• Develop and maintain internal reference architectures, design documents, runbooks, and implementation standards.

• Build and sustain production-grade demonstration infrastructure.

• Capture reusable field patterns and transform them into resources for the wider Implementation Engineering team.

• Act as the technical authority on intricate or unique customer scenarios.

• Mentor and enhance the skills of junior Implementation Engineers.

• Contribute to the integration of adjacent solutions, process re-engineering, and AI refactoring efforts.

• Share field insights with Product and Engineering to help shape the platform roadmap.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles such as Solutions Architect, Staff/Principal Engineer, observability engineer, or SRE.

• Proven ability to transition from hands-on execution to architecture-level strategic thinking.

• Extensive knowledge of observability platforms and telemetry systems at scale, including data modeling trade-offs among logs, metrics, and traces.

• Strong practical experience with OpenTelemetry, encompassing instrumentation strategies, collector configuration, exporters, and multi-signal pipeline design.

• Demonstrated capacity to design or oversee migrations from Splunk, ELK, Datadog, New Relic, or Dynatrace to modern alternatives.

• Experience in evaluating complex enterprise environments and creating sustainable, scalable, practical architectural designs.

• Solid understanding of AWS, GCP, Azure, containerized workloads, and environments based on Kubernetes.

• Excellent communication skills with engineering teams and senior technical leadership.

• Experience in producing technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design decision records, runbooks, and implementation plans.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted observability or AIOps.

• Valid authorization to work in the country where the candidate is applying.
