This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Ensure that all work is executed in compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
• Review and confirm the availability and proper usage of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Develop PLOTO and LOTO switch plans for necessary approvals.
• Serve as the work leader for Pre-Job Briefs, Job Safety Analysis, Personal LOTO, and switch plan LOTO.
• Conduct thorough inspections of solar power plants.
• Design and execute preventative maintenance programs.
• Oversee and train junior technicians in inspection and maintenance procedures.
• Identify and troubleshoot intricate system issues, including grid integration and communication challenges.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve system performance issues.
• Create and implement corrective action plans.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management review.
• Provide oversight and guidance in work order documentation to junior technicians.
• Remain informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
• Assist in the creation of training materials and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• 2–4 years of experience in the solar industry or a related electrical field.
• An associate's degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred.
• OSHA 30-hour certification is required.
• NFPA 70e certification is necessary.
• FAA Part 107 Certification, or proficiency in operating drones for aerial thermographic purposes.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, solar energy technologies, and grid-tied systems.
• Proficient in using diagnostic tools such as I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers.
• Ability to read and interpret intricate electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Proven capability to lead and mentor junior technicians in the field.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Capability to drive confidently and safely.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and walk distances up to three miles per day.
• Proficient in navigating ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps while maintaining three points of contact.
• Visual acuity for depth perception, no field-of-vision issues, and ability to distinguish between colors.
• Comfortable working in varied climatic conditions, including extreme heat above 100°F and extreme cold below 32°F for durations exceeding one hour.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Must have the authorization to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
