This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +31 more states.
β’ Lead two teams in delivering testing and documentation services to various engineering teams within the Wikimedia Foundation.
β’ Collaborate with teams and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment on testing and documentation requirements.
β’ Balance the objectives of projects with technical specifications and the skill sets of team members.
β’ Drive project execution, guarantee that SLAs are fulfilled, monitor key performance metrics, and remove obstacles hindering progress.
β’ Enhance and refine automated processes while promoting the adoption of best practices in software quality and documentation.
β’ Advocate for quality and documentation-first methodologies across engineering teams.
β’ Supervise the design, implementation, and upkeep of automated testing suites, manual testing approaches, and technical documentation.
β’ Ensure that both teams remain engaged, productive, and aware of the project context and organizational effects.
β’ Mentor team members, conduct performance evaluations, offer career guidance, and foster a professional and inclusive work environment.
β’ Support software quality and documentation for the software that powers Wikipedia and its sister projects.
β’ Proven engineering experience in a technical management or leadership position.
β’ Strong practical experience in developing, designing, and reviewing software applications utilizing Go, Python, PHP, or other object-oriented programming languages.
β’ A strong history of managing a team that offers centralized services such as quality assurance, technical documentation, or technical program management to different product teams.
β’ Experience in managing the expectations of diverse teams with varying goals and effectively prioritizing tasks for service teams.
β’ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
β’ Established success in working with multicultural, remote, and high-performing distributed teams.
β’ Alignment with the mission and values of the Wikimedia Foundation.
β’ Familiarity with open-source development methodologies and open-source communities.
β’ Technical expertise in manual and automated testing or writing technical documentation.
β’ Capability to implement scalable testing and documentation strategies.
β’ Experience with remote work and fostering healthy geographically distributed teams.
β’ Experience within large-scale global developer ecosystems and platforms.
β’ Knowledge of testing automation tools for E2E and Visual Regression.
β’ Familiarity with documentation-as-code tools like Markdown.
β’ Experience transitioning Test Engineers from manual testing to automation.
β’ Familiarity with MediaWiki.
