Software Project Manager

📋 Description

• Lead intricate software engineering projects from the initial scope to production delivery.

• Take ownership of client software initiatives from the planning phase and kickoff through to delivery and project completion.

• Convert project scope and client goals into actionable milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and execution strategies.

• Collaborate with engineering leads on technical specifications, architectural choices, implementation dependencies, and potential delivery risks.

• Ensure comprehensive visibility into project health encompassing scope, timelines, resources, risks, and dependencies.

• Proactively identify delivery risks and drive the development of mitigation strategies.

• Facilitate kick-off meetings, planning sessions, status updates, retrospectives, and other essential delivery ceremonies.

• Guarantee that engineers are equipped with the necessary context, decisions, requirements, and access to stakeholders.

• Effectively communicate project status, risks, trade-offs, dependencies, and changes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Shield engineering teams from unnecessary disruptions while fostering trusted relationships with clients.

• Escalate issues with relevant context, options, and suggested next steps.

• Enhance project management methodologies, tools, documentation, and delivery practices at Obsidian Systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software project management, technical project management, delivery management, or a similar role.

• Proven track record of overseeing the delivery of complex software engineering projects from inception to completion.

• Experience working closely with software engineers and technical leads within a software development setting.

• Strong grasp of the software development lifecycle, including planning, development, testing, release, and production delivery.

• Ability to grasp technical concepts, dependencies, constraints, and trade-offs without being a software engineer.

• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and establishing structure in dynamic environments.

• Proven ability to work effectively with distributed or remote teams.

• Preferred: experience in software consultancy, professional services, or client-facing engineering organizations.

• Preferred: background in blockchain, distributed systems, fintech, financial services, or capital markets.

• Preferred: familiarity with digital assets, blockchain infrastructure, or the Canton Network ecosystem.

• Preferred: experience delivering software in regulated or enterprise environments.

• Preferred: knowledge of Agile and adaptable delivery methodologies.

• Availability during core business hours, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time (EST).
