Software Product Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and creation of intricate systems that automate complex workflows, facilitate data-driven decision-making, and improve healthcare technology platforms.

• Develop and construct event-driven, data-focused backend services using Node.js / TypeScript in conjunction with Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL), ECS, and SQS to manage AI workloads at scale.

• Break down complex healthcare and AI workflows into a microservices architecture, defining service boundaries and data ownership.

• Establish synchronous REST and asynchronous messaging (SQS/event-driven) communication patterns between services.

• Deliver independently deployable, loosely coupled services that can scale and fail independently.

• Promote a test-driven development (TDD) methodology within the team.

• Create AI pipelines that process both structured and unstructured data for intelligent decision-making systems.

• Design and implement scalable AI-enabled systems and services for critical healthcare platforms.

• Architect cloud-native designs and distributed systems that support AI-driven applications.

• Collaborate with engineering teams, product stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and technical leadership to convert requirements and research concepts into deployable solutions.

• Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as necessary to support team goals and project success.

• Undergo fingerprinting at a government facility and complete a background check as part of the hiring process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial experience in designing and deploying AI-enabled systems in production settings.

• Extensive hands-on engineering experience with React and Node.js / TypeScript, focused on creating production-grade services, REST APIs, and integrations.

• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, or Claude Code.

• Proven capability to utilize AI-assisted development tools to expedite development, enhance productivity, and improve code quality.

• Practical experience with AWS data and messaging services.

• Background in designing and developing microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems that support AI workloads.

• Demonstrated experience with test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing, including unit, integration, and contract tests.

• Familiarity with implementing CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and DevOps practices for scalable AI systems.

• Strong problem-solving skills with a history of troubleshooting complex distributed systems.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, capable of guiding technical discussions and influencing engineering decisions.

• Experience in developing AI solutions within regulated environments, such as healthcare or federal government systems.

• Knowledge of FHIR, HL7, or healthcare interoperability standards.

• Familiarity with AI orchestration frameworks, agent-based architecture, or intelligent automation systems.

• Experience with relational data modeling and performance tuning on PostgreSQL / Amazon Aurora.

• Background in building asynchronous, message-driven workflows using Amazon SQS and utilizing object storage with Amazon S3.

• Experience with container technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

• All selected candidates must successfully pass a background check.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a government/public Trust clearance, including necessary fingerprinting, when required for the position.

• Must live within the continental United States.
