Software Installation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct prominent on-site and remote software installations and upgrades for Varian software products.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to software installations and upgrades.

• Engage with both physical and virtual environments, operating systems, databases, software, and networking technologies.

• Assess the scope of work to ensure the availability of hardware and software components.

• Complete task and installation documentation in line with Varian Quality processes and procedures.

• Manage customer system inventories utilizing Keystone or similar tools.

• Collaborate with project management, software planning, local service, hardware installation, and remote software deployment teams.

• Exhibit equipment operation and specifications in accordance with the Customer Acceptance Procedure (CAP).

• Conduct installation readiness reviews of customer IT infrastructure and project plans.

• Provide training and mentoring for new Installation Representatives as necessary.

• Work with subject matter experts to assist in installation and upgrade tasks.

• Execute software installation and upgrade activities for small to medium-sized projects.

• Enter detailed installation and upgrade records into company information systems.

• Uphold professionalism and safety standards as per company guidelines and customer regulations.

• Submit daily reports, work orders, timecards, and expense reports.

• Utilize problem-resolution escalation procedures and seek technical assistance when required.

• Offer feedback on products and documentation to enhance installation processes.

• Train, mentor, and advise new and less experienced Installation Representatives while providing performance feedback.

• Willingness to travel up to 75% across ASEAN and Korea as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field, or at least 5-8 years of relevant experience.

• Practical experience with VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.

• Proficient in administering Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and common server roles and features.

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, routing, firewall concepts, and troubleshooting network connectivity issues.

• Capability to diagnose and resolve common network and system communication issues using standard troubleshooting practices and tools.

• Experience with Citrix or other remote application delivery and virtualization platforms is a plus.

• Solid professional technical experience with system software and exceptional debugging abilities.

• A valid passport and availability for international travel on short notice within ASEAN, Korea, and other countries as necessary.

• Highly organized with strong planning capabilities.

• Customer-oriented mindset.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient in the local language (Thai, Bahasa Malaysia) and English, both written and spoken.
