This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Create transmission line designs from initial concepts through to final execution, encompassing EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, loss assessments, and voltage drop evaluations.

• Offer senior-level technical guidance while ensuring precision, adherence to best practices, and the implementation of cutting-edge design solutions.

• Carry out economic assessments of conductors, lightning performance analyses, grounding calculations, and electrical clearance evaluations in accordance with NESC and relevant standards.

• Analyze and apply NERC, FERC, and regional regulatory stipulations.

• Draft and review specifications, data sheets, RFQs, bid assessments, vendor drawings, and purchasing recommendations.

• Work in tandem with project managers on scopes, timelines, budget planning, staffing strategies, construction support, and change order management.

• Conduct and oversee QA/QC for engineering outputs, production drawings, CAD deliverables, and construction administration tasks.

• Address design-related issues that arise in the field.

• Lead field inspections, measurements, calculations, and installation evaluations.

• Formulate and deliver technical reports.

• Assist with marketing and business development initiatives.

• Cultivate strong relationships with clients and contractors.

• Provide mentorship to junior engineers.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or a related discipline).

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in transmission line engineering (design, analysis, modeling, or a comparable role).

• At least 5 years of experience within an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting organization.

• Over 5 years of experience utilizing PLS-CADD.

• Familiarity with NESC, IEEE, ANSI, FERC-881, and FAC-008 standards.

• Capability to plan and oversee assignments while effectively communicating obstacles that may hinder task completion within budget and schedule.

• Ability to work efficiently from a home office without direct supervision.
