Software Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Provide leadership and technical guidance within the engineering domain

• Build and manage one or more teams responsible for delivering software while adhering to and enhancing engineering best practices

• Clarify technical requirements, negotiate priorities, and oversee projects to ensure timely delivery by leading daily scrum activities

• Address or escalate obstacles to expedite delivery progress

• Collaborate with product and design teams to develop an ambitious yet attainable roadmap communicated to executives and stakeholders

• Ensure reliable and predictable team performance through clear objectives, data, and KPIs

• Promote continuous improvement within engineering practices and systems

• Provide KPI, status, and metric updates to executives and key stakeholders

• Identify opportunities to simplify, optimize, or extend solutions for optimal outcomes

• Recruit, evaluate, and onboard a diverse set of engineers

• Contribute to the Fanatics App, a mobile sports platform that integrates free-to-play games, live events, e-commerce, and new product experiences

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year of experience managing an engineering team

• At least 4 years of experience in developing highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems

• Knowledge of a wide range of design approaches and the ability to break down an architecture for development by various teams

• Skill in scoping projects with targeted timelines to meet business objectives

• Capability to identify essential, triageable, or omittable features and negotiate with Product Management

• Proficiency in communicating complex technical topics to engineers, technical leaders, marketing and operations teams, as well as non-technical functional leaders

• Familiarity with Agile software product delivery and SCRUM methodology

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Strong report writing skills and the capacity to gather, assess, and analyze relevant information in a logical and coherent manner

• Ability to excel in an entrepreneurial, high-growth environment with changing priorities and rapid decision-making

• Team-oriented mindset and a commitment to doing what it takes to achieve objectives

• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally within an enterprise setting

• Preferred: experience in a start-up environment

• Preferred: strong background in mobile software engineering

• Preferred: experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and/or Compose Multiplatform
