Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Oversee a remote team of 3–6 engineers engaged in various projects.

• Initially direct the patient programs projects team and later establish a new team for upcoming initiatives.

• Cultivate a friendly and inclusive team culture.

• Mentor and develop engineers while supporting their career aspirations.

• Offer feedback for performance evaluation and coaching purposes.

• Recruit and onboard new team members as needed.

• Provide direct technical leadership in areas such as architecture, design, code reviews, and incident management.

• Contribute independently to projects approximately 20% of the time.

• Interact directly with stakeholders and manage product-related tasks as necessary.

• Convert vague stakeholder requests into clear requirements and actionable plans.

• Collaborate with various teams and both internal and external stakeholders to carry out projects.

• Gain insights into customers and users to offer effective product direction.

• Report directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing and mentoring engineering teams.

• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership in architecture, design, code reviews, and incident management.

• Capability to contribute technically to projects independently for about 20% of the time.

• Preferably, prior experience with Ruby on Rails.

• Preferred experience in DevOps, particularly with AWS infrastructure.

• Background in both startup environments and established tech organizations is advantageous.

• Experience in B2B and B2C contexts is a plus.

• Prior experience in healthcare and/or with African markets is beneficial.

• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, Vue.js, and Android Kotlin.

• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to transform ambiguous needs into specific requirements and actionable plans.

• Capacity to understand customers and users to provide relevant product direction.
