This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Oversee a team of approximately 7–8 engineers within Flex.
• Report directly to the Engineering Director.
• Foster a high-performing engineering culture that enables individuals to thrive, develop, and achieve significant customer results.
• Mentor engineers, evaluate technical decisions, enhance engineering standards, and collaborate with Product to design solutions.
• Enhance the collaboration between Engineering and Product teams.
• Contribute to the development of the future team structure as Flex and DSR organizations merge.
• Recruit outstanding talent and support engineers through one-on-one meetings, coaching, and career development paths.
• Manage sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and execution in conjunction with Product.
• Advocate for design, testing, code review, and CI/CD methodologies.
• Influence architectural decisions and work alongside architects and SRE to create scalable, secure, and observable systems.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, Data, and SRE teams on priorities, acceptance criteria, and release schedules.
• Ensure on-call readiness, lead blameless post-incident reviews, enhance runbooks, monitoring, and alerting, and integrate SLIs/SLOs.
• Eliminate obstacles, automate manual processes, and promote experimentation, improvement, and innovation.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience managing engineers with a proven history of hiring, coaching, and developing teams.
• Experience in deploying production microservices or cloud-native applications utilizing public cloud (AWS preferred).
• Hands-on knowledge of automated pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and container orchestration (Kubernetes or similar).
• Experience in steering test strategy, automated testing, and code quality initiatives.
• Understanding of monitoring, logging, and incident management processes.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across product, design, SRE, and senior leadership.
• Proficient coding experience in at least one modern programming language (Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, or C#).
• Knowledge of system design and architectural patterns.
