This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +1 more country.
• Lead and manage the Google team responsible for providing Unity platform support within an Android-based ecosystem that includes mobile and laptop devices.
• Empower Unity developers to effectively transfer their titles across various Android devices.
• Facilitate the utilization of device screen space, input methods, and ecosystem services.
• Investigate and implement runtime optimizations to enhance game startup times and overall performance on both low- and high-spec devices.
• Set benchmarks and work in collaboration with both internal and external experts to evaluate the performance of the Unity engine.
• Work closely with stakeholders to achieve measurable improvements in performance.
• Utilize AI workflows for analysis and delivery when applicable.
• Implement focused AI workflows designed for developers.
• Take ownership of and drive the immediate execution and technical strategy for the team.
• Collaborate with Unity engine, platform, and graphics teams.
• Articulate the team’s vision and progress to both internal and external audiences.
• Attract, nurture, and retain top engineering talent.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to team members, guiding their professional development and career advancement.
• Proven experience in leading and managing a high-performance software engineering team.
• Strong technical expertise in Android platform technology, including native C/C++, Java, and Kotlin layers.
• Demonstrated ability to work with internal product owners and external partners to establish alignment on benchmarks, technical specifications, and interdependencies.
• Proficient as a software engineer.
• Working knowledge of C++, C#, and Java.
• Capability to assimilate and comprehend a large and complex software product.
• Familiarity with real-time 3D rendering techniques and graphics APIs, including Vulkan.
• Methodical in prioritizing and developing innovative optimization solutions.
• Enthusiasm for the future of computer games and real-time 3D experiences.
• Experience leading remote teams using Agile development practices.
• Knowledgeable about the effective use of AI within the software development lifecycle.
• Proficient in English for professional verbal and written communications.
