This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the process from business stakeholder requests to well-defined Jira epics, stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Ensure that requirements are comprehensive, appropriately sized, and well understood by engineering prior to sprint commitment.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and business analysts to convert business objectives into actionable specifications.
• Maintain a well-structured, prioritized backlog across various active product streams.
• Facilitate the transition from design to development and confirm that UI/UX specifications, wireframes, and data models are feasible for implementation.
• Conduct daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and agile ceremonies involving both internal and vendor teams.
• Manage sprint velocity, burn-down tracking, and capacity planning.
• Oversee release cadence, make go/no-go decisions, coordinate QA acceptance, and ensure readiness for production.
• Identify and escalate any blockers before they evolve into schedule risks.
• Maintain delivery dashboards and provide weekly progress updates to the CIO.
• Manage production release change processes, including approvals, test evidence, and Jira-to-deployment traceability.
• Enhance delivery processes through retrospectives, delivery metrics, and stakeholder feedback.
• Directly supervise approximately five internal FTE engineers across web application development, data engineering, Salesforce development, and QA.
• Handle performance reviews, career development, one-on-ones, and professional growth planning.
• Recruit and onboard new engineering personnel.
• Promote ownership, craftsmanship, and accountability within the team.
• Manage daily delivery relationships with the primary offshore development partner.
• Ensure vendor teams meet sprint commitments, quality standards, and maintain effective communication.
• Monitor vendor velocity, identify underperformance, and escalate any commercial issues to the CIO.
• Coordinate the onboarding of supplemental staff-augmentation engineering resources.
• Act as the main engineering liaison for business stakeholders, product owners, and the CIO.
• Work with architecture partners on design decisions and assess delivery feasibility.
• Coordinate with IT Operations regarding deployment dependencies and environment readiness.
• Engage in strategic planning as the representative voice of engineering capacity and delivery feasibility.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering or engineering management.
• A minimum of 2 years in a role managing engineering teams directly.
• Experience overseeing vendor/offshore development teams in conjunction with internal FTEs.
• Strong expertise in Jira and agile methodologies.
• Proven ability to build and maintain efficient backlogs, conduct sprint ceremonies, and utilize Jira as a management tool.
• Experience in healthcare, insurance, or other regulated industries.
• Knowledge of sensitive data handling and audit trails.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Capability to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and engineers.
• Proficient in writing clear acceptance criteria and leading effective meetings.
• Experience working in organizations ranging from 50 to 500 employees.
• Familiarity with Salesforce development environments, including Experience Cloud, Apex, and LWC (preferred).
• Knowledge of AWS cloud services, specifically web application hosting, serverless architectures, and regulation-compliant infrastructure (preferred).
• Experience in healthcare technology, including EHR integrations, patient portals, provider-facing tools, and care coordination platforms (preferred).
• Experience with platform migration or modernization (preferred).
• Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in the US as a full-time employee.
