This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead, mentor, and coach the software engineering team to foster high performance and professional growth.
• Take ownership of delivery planning, sprint execution, and release management.
• Collaborate with Product and stakeholders to establish the roadmap and convert requirements into actionable plans.
• Drive architectural decisions, uphold code quality standards, and promote engineering best practices.
• Supervise production reliability, incident response, and the ongoing enhancement of operational processes.
• Contribute actively to both backend and frontend codebases, with a focus on AWS architecture and integrations.
• Develop and improve the EMDECS and emdecs one fleet-management platforms.
• Deliver production-grade code and engage in code reviews.
• Design scalable AWS cloud solutions and integrate them with GoodData and HubSpot.
• Propel technical roadmaps that align with business objectives.
• Work alongside Product, CX, and leadership teams to address customer challenges.
• Report directly to the VP of Operations & Customer Experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in managing and coaching software engineers within a team setting.
• 5+ years of practical experience in software engineering with a focus on writing production code.
• Proficient in using AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch).
• Skilled in Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Backend development experience using .NET or Node.js.
• Frontend development experience with React and TypeScript.
• Proven experience leading Agile/Scrum delivery, including sprint execution and release management.
• Experience managing production operations, encompassing incident response and reliability practices.
• Proven track record of collaborating with Product stakeholders on roadmaps and requirements.
• Experience in a B2B SaaS product environment.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada.
• Nice to have: Security Clearance with the Government of Canada.
• Nice to have: Bilingual in English and French.
• Nice to have: Experience in fleet management, telematics, or ELD software.
• Familiarity with OBD-II and CAN bus.
• Familiarity with GPS data streams and real-time event processing.
• Familiarity with ELD compliance standards — FMCSA (North America) and DVSA (UK).
• Familiarity with GoodData or similar embedded BI tools.
• Familiarity with event-driven data pipelines, such as Kafka.
• Familiarity with BigQuery, Redshift, or RDS.
• Familiarity with HubSpot, Stripe, and GoCardless APIs.
• Knowledge of webhook and event-driven design patterns.
• Knowledge of third-party integration architecture and security best practices.
• Familiarity with GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of automated testing, deployment pipelines, and release management.
