Software Engineer, TypeScript

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop challenging codebase-exploration tasks utilizing production TypeScript and JavaScript repositories.

• Choose tasks from a pre-approved selection of pinned TypeScript repositories that include engineering questions, rubrics, foils, and golden solutions.

• Investigate repositories and pertinent pull-request or issue histories to comprehend subsystems.

• Rephrase questions to test frontier coding agents while ensuring they are well-defined and answerable.

• Modify rubrics and foils to incentivize correct reasoning and dismiss plausible but incorrect answers.

• Execute the complete validation loop in Mercor Studio — Check, Golden, Run, Analyze — and iterate until all phases are successful.

• Document efforts in task READMEs and submit tasks for expert evaluation.

• Respond to reviewer feedback on returned tasks.

• Finalize work in Mercor Studio with time tracked by Insightful and access managed through Okta.

• Work undergoes review by a secondary engineer and a super reviewer prior to acceptance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Significant production experience with TypeScript.

• Capability to navigate extensive, unfamiliar TypeScript monorepos and articulate runtime behavior.

• Proficient in advanced type systems, module resolution, bundlers and transpilers, as well as Node and browser runtimes.

• Comfortable reading compiler and plugin internals.

• Experience with developer tools, compilers, test frameworks, GraphQL servers, or state machines is highly relevant.

• Strong written English skills.

• Proficient with git at the commit level, containerized environments, and command-line tools.

• Must complete identity verification, background check, sign the Terms of Work and CIIAA, submit a tax form, and take a short calibration quiz before accessing tasks.

• Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a brief technical assessment or provide additional information.
