This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Oversee the design, enhancement, and long-term architecture of the analytics infrastructure that supports research reporting and analysis across various strategies.
• Take charge of the implementation and continuous operation of recurring analytics pipelines, which includes Airflow DAGs, monitoring, alerting, and enhancements in reliability.
• Lead the architectural progression through schema standardization, DAG consolidation, and the modernization of outdated workflows.
• Facilitate technical alignment across teams when merging duplicated or inconsistent analytics outputs.
• Construct and maintain foundational analytics tables and metrics while adhering to strong schema discipline and ensuring reproducible computation.
• Establish and execute reliability standards, SLOs, observability patterns, runbooks, incident responses, and postmortems.
• Enhance dataset transparency, discoverability, documentation, schema contracts, metadata, and lineage.
• Optimize distributed computing and SQL query performance, including effective partitioning and file sizing for columnar storage.
• Guide engineers through design reviews and elevate operational and modeling rigor.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Researchers, and Data Infrastructure teams to ensure the availability of reliable, consistent, and queryable datasets.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in building and operating analytics or data infrastructure systems.
• Strong expertise in Python and SQL.
• Extensive experience with distributed query engines and large-scale computing systems.
• Proven ownership of large-scale or mission-critical data infrastructure.
• Solid data modeling skills, encompassing schema design, partitioning strategy, and considerations for reproducibility.
• Proficiency in metadata management, data lineage, and strong data governance principles.
• Experience in leading architectural migrations or substantial data-platform refactors.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud technologies and on-premises computing clusters, such as Slurm, SSH, and Unix.
• Exposure to quantitative research or machine-learning environments.
