Senior Software Engineer II - Storage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Create and implement solutions for Honeycomb’s query and data storage framework.

• Enhance query performance and advance the Retriever service.

• Make the storage layer more dependable and scalable.

• Define and execute complex storage and querying projects independently.

• Manage tasks from design to production support.

• Work in collaboration with Product Management and other engineering teams.

• Engage in on-call rotations and provide support for production services.

• Assist in establishing team KPIs and SLOs.

• Minimize operational toil and proactively tackle reliability issues.

• Investigate new technologies, data storage methods, and query optimization techniques.

• Collaborate with teammates, review code, offer constructive feedback, and mentor fellow engineers.

• Share expertise and lead foundational initiatives across Honeycomb engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in writing Go.

• Experience with high-throughput or intricate systems.

• Technical leadership in storage and querying domains.

• Experience in developing patterns and guidelines to enhance performance and reliability.

• Previous database engineering experience is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes is beneficial.

• Capability to scope and deliver complex, multi-team projects.

• Strong debugging skills across the entire stack.

• Experience with production support, on-call rotations, KPIs, and SLOs.

• Strength in mentorship, teamwork, and providing constructive feedback.

• Must be able to verify identity and eligibility to work.
