This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable, cost-effective mapping and routing data pipelines and services in anticipation of commercial launch.

• Take ambiguous or partially-defined issues from internal clients and guide them toward a definitive technical design, independently assessing trade-offs before involving senior engineers.

• Collaborate with the Map Enablement team and adjacent departments to comprehend customer requirements and translate them into clearly defined features.

• Engage in and provide meaningful feedback during technical design and code review processes.

• Foster operational excellence by establishing effective testing, monitoring, and alerting systems for Map Enablement's services and pipelines.

• Partake in the on-call rotation to ensure service health.

• Contribute to project planning, aiding in prioritization based on customer expectations and technical limitations.

• Champion a culture of collaboration, transparency, creativity, inclusion, and data-driven decision-making.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with competencies and technical skills typically gained through 4+ years of experience OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with competencies and technical skills typically gained through 0-3+ years of experience.

• Proficient in at least one programming language (C++, Python), with a preference for Python.

• Experience utilizing AWS services (S3, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, EventBridge, Glue, Athena).

• Background in building and managing high-throughput data processing pipelines.

• Proven ability to navigate vague or evolving requirements and independently suggest a technical approach.

• Excellent technical communication skills, both written and verbal, that resonate with a diverse workforce.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to analyze and resolve complex software issues.

• Familiarity with source control and agile methodologies such as GitHub and JIRA.

• Bonus points: understanding of geospatial data concepts and tools (GeoJSON, PostGIS, QGIS, OSM, etc.).

• Bonus points: knowledge of machine learning techniques for geospatial data analysis.

• Bonus points: experience with high-definition mapping.

• Bonus points: experience in scaling autonomous systems.

• Bonus points: previous experience in navigation or the automotive industry.
