Software Engineer, C Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, test, and document new functionalities for EDB Postgres Distributed (PGD).

• Enhance and optimize the performance and user experience of current PGD features.

• Evaluate business needs and convert them into actionable tasks.

• Offer top-notch production support to EDB's PGD clientele.

• Engage in code reviews and collaborate with a team spread across the globe.

• Directly contribute to the design, development, testing, and documentation of both new and existing PGD capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in a software engineering role.

• Strong expertise in C programming.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL internals, such as the storage engine, WAL, replication, catalog system, or extension development.

• Knowledge of distributed systems principles, including replication topologies, consensus, conflict resolution, eventual consistency, and failure modes.

• Experience in managing multi-version/multi-branch codebases with active backporting processes.

• Understanding of build systems and CI/CD methodologies.

• Proficiency in using Git within a large, enduring codebase that involves complex branching.

• Excellent debugging and performance analysis capabilities.

• Previous contributions to PostgreSQL or other open-source database initiatives are a plus.

• Experience with logical replication, logical decoding, or custom replication solutions is a plus.

• Knowledge of distributed consensus algorithms like Raft is advantageous.

• Familiarity with the PostgreSQL extension API and hook system is beneficial.

• Experience with high availability architectures and failover mechanisms is advantageous.

• Proficiency in Python and Rust is a plus.

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes is advantageous.
