Software Engineer, Python, GPU Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop Python services and APIs to manage the lifecycle of GPU virtual machines and bare-metal servers.

• Create workflows for provisioning, placement, maintenance, quarantine, and recovery processes.

• Enhance capacity tracking, scheduling, and availability for our customers.

• Integrate new GPU servers and configurations into OpenStack, linking them with Gcore’s Kubernetes services.

• Automate tasks such as host validation, image preparation, driver installation, and production readiness assessments.

• Enhance testing, observability, deployment safety, and operational tools.

• Troubleshoot production issues across the control plane, hypervisors, networking, storage, and hardware.

• Collaborate closely with compute, Kubernetes, networking, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), hardware, and product teams.

• Take ownership of projects from design and implementation through to rollout and production operation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in writing reliable, well-tested production code.

• Proficient in Python with experience in building APIs, backend services, or distributed systems.

• Practical experience with OpenStack or a similar cloud control plane.

• Strong understanding of Linux, networking, and compute virtualization concepts.

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads.

• Experience managing production services where reliability and scalability are critical.

• Capability to debug complex issues across multiple layers of a system.

• Effective communication skills with a collaborative engineering mindset.

• Familiarity with KVM, QEMU, libvirt, PCI passthrough, vGPU, or MIG is advantageous.

• Knowledge of NVIDIA drivers, CUDA, NVML, DCGM, GPU Operator, or Kubernetes device plugins is a plus.

• Experience with bare-metal provisioning, BMC, Redfish, firmware, or hardware validation is desirable.

• Knowledge of Ceph, InfiniBand, RDMA, RoCE, or GPUDirect is beneficial.

• Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, Helm, GitOps, or CI/CD tools is considered a plus.

• Experience with Go or another systems programming language is advantageous.

• Contributions to OpenStack, Kubernetes, Linux, or other open-source infrastructure projects are viewed positively.

• This position is available only through an employment (labor) agreement.
