Software Engineer – Observability, Co-op

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create AI-driven tools for code transformation utilizing foundational models and agentic frameworks to transition instrumentation to OpenTelemetry standards across Java, Python, Node.js, .NET, and browser-based RUM.

• Develop AI-agent parsing and analysis engines leveraging Model Context Protocol tools for transforming APM instrumentation code.

• Design and execute LLM-powered dashboard migration tools, ensuring functional-equivalence validation.

• Implement agentic automation for alert migration, covering alert policies, conditions, notification channels, and escalation workflows.

• Establish validation and testing frameworks to assess metrics and traces, monitor migration progress dashboards, and facilitate rollback procedures.

• Create CLI tools, scripts, and self-service migration utilities, supplemented with guides and best-practice documentation.

• Contribute to observability operations, focusing on log PII detection, log pipeline integration, cost optimization, and monitoring of EKS, EC2, and Lambda.

• Assist with the integration of observability alerts into the Harness deployment pipeline.

• Collaborate with application, security, compliance, and platform engineering teams.

• Present work during team demonstrations and showcase events; contribute to documentation, runbooks, and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Extensive development experience in Python with a proven ability to write high-quality code.

• Practical experience utilizing AI coding assistants such as Cline, Roo Code, Kiro, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or comparable tools.

• Exposure to full-stack development with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks; familiarity with React is preferred, along with knowledge of Vue or Angular.

• Proficiency in at least 2–3 programming languages including Java, Python, Node.js, or .NET.

• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, testing methodologies, and design patterns.

• Experience or strong interest in observability concepts, encompassing logs, metrics, traces, and distributed systems.

• Background in database design and SQL, specifically with MySQL or PostgreSQL.

• Familiarity with APM tools such as New Relic, Datadog, Dynatrace, or similar platforms is preferred.

• Proficient in AWS Cloud services, including CloudWatch, Lambda, EKS, EC2, Fargate, SQS, and SNS.

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
