Software Engineer III, Ruby on Rails

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of feature development from technical design to final delivery.

• Decompose intricate projects into manageable, deliverable components.

• Produce idiomatic, high-performance, and thoroughly tested Ruby code.

• Participate in architectural discussions regarding data modeling, service boundaries, API design, and background processing.

• Enhance code quality, performance, reliability, and the overall developer experience.

• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, collaborative sessions, and design feedback.

• Work alongside Product, Design, and QA teams to ensure alignment between product objectives and implementation.

• Engage in the on-call rotation, incident response, root cause analysis, and systemic enhancements.

• Document technical choices, data models, and service patterns.

• Develop Rails-based backend services that support customer rewards, incentives, and the loyalty program.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience in building Ruby on Rails applications.

• Proven track record of delivering complex features within a software team to achieve business goals.

• Skill in transforming vague requirements into concrete technical plans.

• Experience with large-scale, high-throughput distributed systems serving millions of users in real-time.

• Advanced expertise in Ruby on Rails.

• Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including schema design, query optimization, migrations, and performance characteristics at scale.

• Experience in designing and building RESTful APIs within the Rails framework.

• Solid testing practices using RSpec or Minitest, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies.

• Familiarity with background job processing frameworks, such as Sidekiq.

• Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.

• Ability to independently tackle ambiguous challenges.

• Comfortable both giving and receiving direct technical feedback.

• Strong written communication skills in a fully remote work environment.

• Capability to balance in-depth technical tasks with collaborative design and planning.
