Software Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +12 more states.

📋 Description

• Create solution components that focus on analytics, support, testing, and proof of concepts.

• Design and develop applications and systems to address business challenges.

• Research, install, maintain, configure, administer, and provision systems and applications as necessary.

• Provide support for the Encompass loan origination platform and the Blend point-of-sale platform.

• Design and implement Encompass solutions, including plugins, workflow rules, web input forms, and task-based processing.

• Innovate new solutions for engineering programs and projects.

• Develop new features and conduct unit/component testing.

• Assist with business inquiries and activities through enhancements and break/fix implementations.

• Carry out peer code reviews.

• Collaborate with technology partners to ensure configurations and custom components align with application requirements and performance objectives.

• Analyze technical requirements and propose practical engineering solutions.

• Work with stakeholders and technology partners to achieve technical, performance, time-to-market, and innovation goals.

• Oversee product lifecycles and manage redevelopment as necessary.

• Document and verify system components, applications, infrastructure, security, integration, operability, and architectural designs.

• Engage in quality management reviews of designs, prototypes, and requirements work products.

• Produce and maintain quality code while providing support during testing and post-production deployment.

• Offer technical expertise during incident management, analyze incident reports and outages, assess impacts, and facilitate communication until resolution.

• Identify and recommend development/testing solutions and tools.

• Help sustain processes for issue prevention and take part in problem determination and incident resolution.

• Comply with software engineering frameworks and methodologies.

• Perform functional or enterprise-level analysis and make recommendations.

• Identify cost-reduction opportunities and provide strategic solutions.

• Conduct code reviews, Operational Readiness Reviews, and solution design approvals.

• Monitor service, productivity, and efficiency and implement process/performance enhancements.

• Lead or facilitate remediation plans for performance, risk, and governance challenges.

• Manage relationships across various business lines and control functions.

• Identify, manage, and escalate risks.

• Stay informed about emerging issues, trends, and regulatory requirements.

• Participate in team activities, knowledge transfer, mentoring, cross-training, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Keep stakeholders updated on project status and daily activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or Technical Certificate.

• Strong academic background in fields such as computer science or engineering.

• 3–5 years of relevant experience.

• Strong communication skills are preferred.

• Experience in Encompass configuration is preferred.

• Business analysis experience is preferred.

• Underwriting experience is preferred.

• Extensive experience in data reporting is preferred.

• Software engineering experience is preferred.

• Website design experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with Encompass web is preferred.

• Must reside within the TD footprint: CT, DE, FL, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, SC, VT, VA, DC.

• Advanced knowledge of engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes, and procedures.

• Advanced knowledge of technology, tools, programming languages, processes, and procedures.

• Understanding of Agile development practices.

• Ability to develop program specifications, adapt, integrate, code, test, and debug programs.

• Capability to perform complex technical tasks independently.

• Skill in analyzing technical requirements and recommending engineering solutions.

• Ability to document and verify system components, applications, infrastructure, security, integrations, operability, and architectural designs.

• Capability to conduct code reviews and quality management evaluations.

• Ability to provide technical expertise during incident management.

• Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

• Capability to perform sedentary work and operate standard office equipment continuously.

• Ability to undertake occasional domestic travel.
