This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +8 more states.
• Responsible for maintaining, debugging, and enhancing Windows applications developed with C#, VB.NET, WinForms, .NET Framework, and modern .NET technologies.
• Refactor or modernize legacy code to boost reliability, maintainability, and customer outcomes.
• Enhance shared functionalities through scoped libraries and NuGet packages.
• Design and optimize SQL Server schemas, T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and data-conversion logic.
• Oversee ASP.NET/IIS web portals and manage interactions between portal, desktop, and database components.
• Construct and resolve operational reports, including SAP Crystal Reports, alongside JSON/XML import/export workflows.
• Optimize Git/GitHub workflows, automated builds and testing, packaging, and ensure repeatable releases.
• Augment production diagnostics through structured logging, error tracking, monitoring, and reproduction tools.
• Examine escalated defects, communicate insights, estimate workloads, and implement accepted fixes through release and production follow-up.
• Collaborate with domain experts and Customer Engineering on business rules and maintainable solutions.
• Document product, build, and release knowledge for team dissemination.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools while ensuring accountability for code quality and customer impact.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant .NET application ownership.
• Strong expertise in C# and practical experience in maintaining VB.NET code.
• Familiarity with modern .NET and .NET Framework, including Windows desktop development using WinForms or an equivalent UI framework.
• Proficient in SQL Server and T-SQL, including stored procedures, query optimization, schema design, and troubleshooting production data.
• Experience with LINQ and Entity Framework or another .NET data-access approach.
• Proven experience in maintaining ASP.NET applications hosted in IIS.
• Knowledge of reporting tools such as SAP Crystal Reports.
• Practical experience in unit and integration testing within established codebases.
• Strong foundational skills in Git, including branches, commits, merges, conflict resolution, pull requests, and repository-state diagnosis beyond GUI tooling.
• Familiarity with CI/CD in GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar systems.
• Experience in creating and maintaining NuGet packages.
• Working knowledge of structured logging, error tracking, monitoring, and production diagnostics.
• Experience working in a modern product team utilizing agile methodologies.
• Practical knowledge of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a tactful and empathetic communication style.
• Preferred: Experience with PowerShell automation and JSON/XML integrations or flat-file imports.
• Preferred: Knowledge of REST API design or consumption.
• Preferred: Familiarity with local-government domain knowledge.
• Preferred: Experience in modernizing extensive desktop or client/server application portfolios.
• Preferred: Background in regulated or audit-focused environments, including SOC 2, GovRAMP, or FedRAMP readiness.
