Software Engineer – Design Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Participate in the development of shared component libraries for React Native and web applications

• Create accessible and reusable components, prioritizing quality and user experience

• Design components, tokens, patterns, documentation, and tools to ensure consistent user experiences

• Work collaboratively with designers, product engineers, and stakeholders to turn design concepts into robust implementations

• Detect accessibility issues and enhance inclusive practices in product development

• Contribute to motion design, micro-interactions, transitions, and interaction patterns

• Develop Storybook examples, usage instructions, migration notes, and technical documentation

• Assist product teams in migrating and adopting shared components

• Write tests, uphold implementation standards, and engage in code reviews

• Refine the design system based on actual usage throughout the codebase

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional experience in software engineering

• Ideal experience in creating user-facing product experiences using React, React Native, TypeScript, or similar technologies

• Solid understanding of frontend fundamentals

• Practical experience with accessibility or a strong interest in inclusive digital solutions

• Familiarity with keyboard behavior, screen readers, focus management, semantic structure, color contrast, and effective interaction patterns

• Interest in design systems, encompassing component APIs, design tokens, documentation, adoption, consistency, flexibility, and standardization

• Ability to collaborate effectively with designers and engineers

• Eagerness to explore motion design and interaction specifics

• Strong written and coding communication abilities

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and breaking down improvements into manageable, incremental steps

• Experience in contributing to or maintaining a design system, component library, or shared frontend platform is a plus

• Familiarity with React Native, mobile accessibility, animation libraries, or cross-platform UI patterns is advantageous

• Knowledge of Storybook, Figma, design tokens, visual regression testing, or frontend testing tools is a plus

• Experience in supporting the migration or adoption of shared components within a large codebase is a plus
