This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +1 more state.
β’ Assist the Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Engineering Team
β’ Develop comprehensive CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications for propulsion-related components, such as motor cases, nozzles, insulation, joints, and structural interfaces
β’ Aid in design integration, configuration control, and the release of precise, manufacturable mechanical designs
β’ Utilize engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical equipment
β’ Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
β’ Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to establish operating procedures, troubleshoot system malfunctions, and provide technical information
β’ Investigate and evaluate customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to assess design/application feasibility, costs, and maintenance needs
β’ Specify system components or direct product modifications to ensure compliance with engineering design and performance criteria
β’ Examine equipment failures and issues, diagnose operational faults, and recommend solutions to maintenance teams
β’ Work closely with engineers from different disciplines
β’ Operate with moderate guidance and direction while exercising discretion and judgment
β’ Associate's Degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience
β’ Engineering degree is mandatory
β’ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
β’ Strong oral and written communication skills
β’ Capability to meet deadlines
β’ Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
β’ Excellent problem-solving skills
β’ Strong analytical thinking abilities
β’ Knowledge of applied mechanics
β’ Experience in design engineering
β’ Familiarity with design optimization
β’ Competence in conducting design reviews
β’ Background in mechanical engineering
β’ Skills in prototyping
β’ Experience in requirements engineering/analysis
β’ Proficient in CAD software
β’ Knowledge of Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software
β’ Must be able to remain seated at a desk and/or computer for extended durations
β’ Requires regular mobility throughout GD-OTS facilities
β’ May need to stand for extended periods
β’ Work may necessitate indoor and outdoor activities with exposure to varying weather conditions and/or operation of machinery
β’ May be asked to work a different shift
