This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +1 more state.
β’ Conduct comprehensive ballistic analyses of solid rocket motor components.
β’ Provide support to the Solid Rocket Motor Engineering Team.
β’ Utilize engineering techniques for designing, installing, modifying, analyzing, repairing, and testing mechanically functioning equipment.
β’ Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
β’ Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to establish operating procedures, troubleshoot system malfunctions, and deliver technical information.
β’ Research and assess customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other relevant data.
β’ Analyze the feasibility, costs, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
β’ Specify system components or guide product modifications to ensure alignment with engineering design and performance specifications.
β’ Examine equipment failures, diagnose operational issues, and provide recommendations to maintenance teams.
β’ Work alongside cross-functional engineering teams.
β’ Engage with customers effectively.
β’ Offer technical leadership throughout the program.
β’ Operate independently with minimal guidance to resolve complex issues.
β’ May lead projects or specific project phases and serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues.
β’ Associate's Degree with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
β’ An engineering degree is mandatory.
β’ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
β’ Strong expertise in solid rocket motor ballistics.
β’ In-depth knowledge of internal ballistics, performance prediction, and propulsion system modeling.
β’ Familiar with industry-standard analysis tools.
β’ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
β’ Capable of meeting deadlines effectively.
β’ Strong interpersonal abilities.
β’ Proficient problem-solving skills.
β’ Analytical thinking capabilities.
β’ Knowledge in applied mechanics.
β’ Experience in design engineering.
β’ Proficient in design optimization and review.
β’ Background in mechanical engineering.

β’ Experience in requirements engineering and analysis.

β’ Knowledge of computer-aided engineering (CAE) software.
β’ Ability to remain stationary at a desk and/or computer for extended durations.
β’ Capacity to move regularly throughout GD-OTS facilities.
β’ Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, if necessary.
