Software Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Modify, diagnose, and enhance Seesaw’s Python HTTP backend operating on Tornado

• Collaborate with data stored in Dynamo, Elasticsearch, and Redis

• Contribute to infrastructure-as-code for the provisioning of AWS resources

• Employ distributed-systems principles in technical decision-making

• Oversee technical projects from conception through to implementation, production monitoring, and alerting

• Share best practices regarding code development, tool utilization, and observability with engineering teams

• Ensure platform security and reliability by addressing vulnerabilities and performance issues

• Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency

• Assist in shaping the technical roadmap and engineering culture through design proposals and industry engagement

• Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and stakeholders on strategic initiatives and infrastructure alignment

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in backend development

• Comprehensive understanding of distributed systems, including eventual consistency, fan-in fan-out patterns, and backpressure

• Familiarity with key AWS services (EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, ECS/EKS) or equivalent cloud experience

• Proficient in CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions

• Experience managing and operating infrastructure that supports software at a high scale, including billions of incoming requests monthly

• In-depth knowledge of backend development and infrastructure at scale

• Expertise in implementing HTTP APIs and engaging with data storage layers

• Experience in infrastructure provisioning

• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions on when to seek further information
