Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Indonesia.

📋 Description

• Make decisions regarding design and data modeling for manifests, boundaries, shared libraries, and build priorities.

• Develop and manage geospatial data pipelines, which encompass syncing, validating, ingesting, and exporting datasets.

• Transform notebooks, prototypes, and research code into thoroughly tested, modular production code.

• Implement production-ready modeling pipelines and orchestration, including partitioned assets, schedules, and concurrency.

• Ensure runs are reproducible and observable through manifests, pinned dataset versions, deterministic outputs, and monitoring.

• Create new data and monitoring products with appropriate dataset cataloging.

• Optimize performance via profiling, bounded concurrency, and predictable runtime and cost.

• Work with the Kotlin/Spring and Postgres backend as well as the React/Remix frontend.

• Manage Terraform cloud infrastructure across GCP and AWS, covering batch jobs, storage, IAM, CI/CD, and alerting.

• Conduct discovery sessions with scientists and analysts.

• Contribute to developer tooling, release scripts, agent skills, and repository documentation.

• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, analysts, and domain specialists to transition analytical and ML prototypes into production-quality systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must live in Indonesia and possess the necessary authorization to work there.

• Strong mid-level or senior individual contributor capable of independently owning delivery.

• Robust software engineering background.

• Experience with design, interface, contract, data, and domain modeling.

• Background in scientific programming across any domain, such as geospatial, remote sensing, ML, signal/audio/vision, quantitative analysis, simulation, or bioinformatics.

• Versatile with various stacks and tools; able to learn new languages and frameworks rapidly.

• Familiarity with modern software engineering and product development practices, including discovery, scoping, and iterative delivery.

• Experience with testing, code reviews, CI/CD, modular design, and documentation.

• Proven experience in productionizing analytical, data science, or ML workflows.

• Working knowledge of batch processing, reproducibility, monitoring, and deployment.

• Proficiency in scientific Python or equivalent experience in languages like C++ or Scala.

• Cloud engineering experience, preferably with GCP and AWS.

• Pragmatic approach to managing engineering complexity.

• Comfortable with collaborative, shared-ownership work and conducting discovery sessions with domain experts.

• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English.
