Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain backend services and API connections in Go that link the platform with external billing systems.

• Create features for usage tracking, estimates, alerts, and invoicing.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to comprehend how features are assessed and billed.

• Assist in executing billing migrations to external systems while ensuring data integrity and minimizing customer impact.

• Investigate and address billing concerns raised by Support and Finance.

• Contribute to measures against abuse and safeguard sensitive customer and payment information.

• Collaborate with Finance, Product, and Support teams.

• Communicate asynchronously with teams distributed globally.

• Produce well-documented and tested code.

• Engage in pair programming and participate in code reviews.

• Thoughtfully utilize AI-assisted tools within the workflow.

• Potentially assist in project provisioning and account management services.

• Take ownership of billing components and act as a vital link between Engineering, Finance, and Product.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of professional backend development experience in Go.

• Practical experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL/MariaDB.

• Proficiency in integrating external REST APIs, including error handling, retries, and rate limiting.

• Strong attention to detail in systems where errors can affect customer invoices.

• Interest in principles such as idempotency and consistency within distributed systems.

• A consistent practice of writing unit and integration tests, including for failure scenarios.

• Awareness of common security vulnerabilities and the ability to prevent them in backend services.

• A passion for working on billing and financial systems.

• Effective written communication and collaboration skills across teams and time zones.

• Legally authorized to work in Canada, France, Germany, Spain, or the United Kingdom.

• Capability to undergo a background check.
