This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks for native Android applications.
• Build and enhance automated test suites to cover functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Create automated tests utilizing Espresso, UI Automator, Appium, or other similar Android testing frameworks.
• Integrate Android test automation into CI/CD pipelines using platforms such as GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or comparable tools.
• Execute automated tests on both Android emulators and physical devices.
• Collaborate with Android engineers to enhance application testability and increase automation coverage.
• Analyze test failures, determine root causes, and enhance automation stability and reliability.
• Verify application behavior across various Android versions, device types, and configurations.
• Contribute to the architecture of mobile automation, establish tooling standards, and promote best testing practices.
• Identify gaps in automated coverage and prioritize high-value scenarios for automation.
• Assess and implement new Android automation tools and technologies as appropriate.
• Utilize AI-assisted tools like Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent platforms to enhance test development, debugging, root-cause analysis, documentation, and workflow efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with Android Engineering, QA, and Product teams throughout the development lifecycle to ensure features are reliable and ready for release.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in software testing, SDET, or test automation roles, with substantial experience in Android automation.
• Strong practical experience with Android automation frameworks such as Espresso, UI Automator, Appium, or similar tools.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java.
• Experience in designing and maintaining scalable automated test frameworks.
• Familiarity with Android Studio, Gradle, and Android build workflows.
• Experience in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven experience testing native Android applications on emulators and physical devices.
• Strong understanding of the Android application lifecycle, permissions, background processes, and platform-specific behaviors.
• Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience collaborating closely with software engineers to enhance testability and resolve complex defects.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with Engineering, Product, and QA teams.
• Willingness to effectively use AI-assisted tools for enhancing automation development, debugging, analysis, and documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Due to the nature of this role involving FedRAMP environments, qualified candidates must be a U.S. Person, defined as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Experience with cloud-based mobile device testing platforms such as Firebase Test Lab, BrowserStack, or Sauce Labs.
• Familiarity with Jetpack Compose testing.
• Understanding of Android accessibility, performance, or network-condition testing.
• Experience testing security-sensitive mobile workflows, including authentication, biometrics, passkeys, and MFA.
• Background in testing cybersecurity, identity, or password management applications.
• Familiarity with Google Play release workflows and mobile release validation.
• Experience with API testing or backend-dependent mobile workflows.
