This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take ownership of the comprehensive quality strategy encompassing web, APIs, and data layers, including standards, expectations for test coverage, and criteria for release.
• Evaluate current products and features, pinpoint quality deficiencies, and create prioritized test plans based on risk assessment and business impact.
• Develop and expand automated testing frameworks for unit, integration, end-to-end, and regression testing.
• Specify the tools, architecture, and common testing patterns utilized across engineering teams.
• Integrate automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines to identify regressions before they are deployed to production.
• Set standards for release readiness, establish testing thresholds, and define coverage expectations among teams.
• Enhance the reliability of tests, health of pipelines, automation coverage, and reduce flakiness in critical user flows.
• Collaborate with DevOps/Platform to ensure that test environments are stable, efficient, and reflective of the production environment.
• Define and track engineering quality metrics to reveal trends, risks, and areas requiring improvement.
• Work alongside Engineering and Product teams to incorporate testability into requirements, design, and technical planning.
• Promote shift-left practices to ensure quality considerations are integrated earlier in the development lifecycle, rather than solely before release.
• Provide mentorship to engineers and QA team members regarding automation, testing methodologies, and quality ownership.
• Engage in incident reviews and post-mortems, transforming recurring quality issues into systematic enhancements.
• Serve as a quality authority for releases, including the authority to halt releases when critical standards are not fulfilled.
• 7–10+ years of experience in software quality, including senior-level responsibility for QA strategy, architecture, or automation.
• Background as a QA Architect, Staff/Principal SDET, Principal QA Engineer, or a related role.
• Demonstrated success in constructing and scaling test automation frameworks.
• Practical experience with tools like Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Jest, Postman, or comparable technologies.
• Strong experience in integrating automated testing within CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or Jenkins.
• Familiarity with TypeScript/JavaScript testing environments, REST APIs, and relational databases.
• Robust understanding of contemporary web application architecture and quality engineering practices.
• Experience utilizing AI development tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot to enhance testing and automation efforts.
• Interest in leveraging AI in areas such as test generation, defect detection, and pipeline optimization.
• Experience with performance/load testing tools such as k6, Locust, or JMeter is considered a plus.
