Software Development Engineer in Test

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Become a member of an agile engineering team dedicated to enhancing the quality of LUMA, Dotmatics' scientific software platform.

• Assume responsibility for testing a specific application module.

• Develop, maintain, and expand automated test suites using Cucumber, TypeScript, Cypress, and Playwright where applicable.

• Participate in planning by contributing test scenarios and testing stories as they are developed.

• Provide the team with a comprehensive overview of release readiness.

• Design and document functional, regression, and integration test cases.

• Investigate and replicate defects, submit evidence-based bug reports in JIRA, and verify resolutions with developers and scientists.

• Ensure the reliability of tests in CI pipelines and assist in enhancing test execution and reporting.

• Review and interpret API documentation to create meaningful automated coverage.

• Conduct manual exploratory testing for early-stage features and scientifically intricate areas.

• Collaborate with developers, application scientists, DevOps engineers, product management, and test automation specialists.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in QA/testing.

• At least 1 year of hands-on experience in test automation.

• Practical knowledge of Cypress, including selectors, custom commands, debugging failures, and existing Page Object Models.

• Proficient in TypeScript or JavaScript, including promises and async/await.

• Familiarity with BDD/Cucumber or a willingness to learn swiftly.

• Skills in test case design and documentation.

• Proficient with Git and GitHub, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews.

• Experience with JIRA or a similar tracking system.

• Ability to work meticulously, pay attention to detail, comprehend stories or modules, and develop concrete testing strategies.

• Openness to feedback, eagerness to learn, and ambition to advance into a senior automation engineer role.
