This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Conduct corrective, preventive, and perfective maintenance for applications across front-end, back-end, integration, and database components.
• Diagnose production defects and legacy integration issues; execute emergency fixes and orchestrate corrective measures.
• Design and implement approved upgrades, enhancements, security updates, and modifications to applications.
• Address critical and high-level software vulnerabilities within the timelines set by CISA security guidelines and policies.
• Utilize secure coding practices, automated testing, and sanctioned CI/CD workflows to validate changes and facilitate dependable releases.
• Maintain configuration records and software baselines; ensure that application software complies with DHS Technology Reference Model approvals.
• Oversee application services, investigate performance concerns, and optimize application functionality and cloud resource usage in response to varying demands.
• Assist with Authority to Operate documentation, monthly scan remediation, data protection, and configuration management quality assurance.
• Keep technical documentation, SOPs, operational concepts, change histories, and knowledge repositories up to date.
• Coordinate deployments, alerts, service-level expectations, incident resolution, and user-support knowledge transfer with the CISA Technology Operations Center.
• Offer support for approved changes outside of regular hours.
• Execute other related responsibilities as assigned.
• A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant software development experience, including full-stack application development and maintenance.
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Proficiency in developing and troubleshooting front-end, back-end, API, and database components.
• Experience with cloud-hosted applications, SaaS integrations, SQL, version control, and CI/CD workflows.
• Understanding of secure coding, automated testing, vulnerability remediation, release management, and configuration controls.
• Capability to investigate production defects, assess the impacts of changes, maintain technical documentation, and collaborate with operations and security teams.
• Ability to meet necessary Government background investigation, system access, nondisclosure, and sensitive-information protection requirements.
• Must successfully pass the required DHS/CISA OBP Public Trust background investigation.
• Must obtain and uphold a favorable DHS suitability/fitness determination (Public Trust).
• Must maintain necessary system access.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and fulfill DHS/CISA personnel and system access requirements.
• AWS Certified Developer - Associate or a comparable cloud development certification relevant to the supported environment is preferred.
