This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Austria.
• Lead the development of a greenfield project and take ownership of the architecture and technical vision for the V1 Trust Accounting product.
• Design and implement backend services that are secure, scalable, and auditable.
• Set up quality assurance measures, comprehensive testing, and CI/CD integration.
• Promote best practices regarding system design, observability, security, quality, resilience, and financial accuracy.
• Collaborate with teams from product, design, finance, and legal departments.
• Offer technical insights to enhance transparency and accountability.
• Mentor fellow engineers through code reviews, architectural advice, and collaborative coding sessions.
• Influence architecture, processes, technical direction, and project delivery as a key founding team member.
• Create a dependable, high-throughput, low-error Trust Accounting subsystem that seamlessly integrates with the Hostaway platform.
• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience working at a Staff Engineer level or equivalent.
• Strong proficiency in a backend programming language suitable for developing production-grade services.
• Experience in building, launching, and maintaining critical backend systems that serve real users at scale.
• Knowledge of reliability, observability, and potential failure modes in systems.
• Ability to design systems that start simply and evolve effectively over time.
• Experience in promoting the adoption of platforms, patterns, or standards across teams.
• Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and managing services in a production environment.
• A curious and adaptable mindset to work with code across various technologies.
• Nice to have: knowledge of financial systems, accounting principles, or ledger products.
• Nice to have: hands-on experience with Golang in a production setting.
