Staff Software Engineer, Backend – Fraud Decisioning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee projects and initiatives within the Fraud Decisioning team.

• Develop tools and systems that enhance Affirm’s fraud prevention capabilities.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and monitor fraud systems.

• Leverage analytics and data-driven insights to enhance the performance and quality of fraud decision-making processes.

• Plan and execute large-scale cross-functional initiatives, encompassing project definition, technical specifications, task breakdown, delivery, monitoring, and maintenance.

• Design simple, elegant, and deployable solutions that account for potential issues.

• Produce high-quality, comprehensible, and reusable code.

• Review the work of others and offer constructive feedback.

• Guide and mentor engineers, fostering their professional growth.

• Integrate stakeholder requirements, advocate for initiatives, and cultivate a shared understanding.

• Conduct evaluations of technical and soft skills for hiring purposes.

• Develop and assess technical interview content and prerequisites.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6-10+ years of experience as a software engineer with leadership roles and experience in mentoring junior engineers.

• Previous experience in architecting, building, launching, coding, and maintaining intricate systems.

• Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product, ML, Analytics, and Business units.

• Technical leadership and team-building skills.

• Proficiency in synthesizing complex business, product, and technical requirements into high-quality system designs and software.

• Experience in system architecture, including decomposing business and product requirements into system modules or components.

• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
